Description
Learn To Race – Academy
If your child is already racing, or is thinking about starting, then the ‘Learn To Race’ sessions are ideal for introducing them to a set of skills that are the essential tools of good racers at every level of the sport.
The aim of the sessions is to develop their skills, so that fitness and speed is not a barrier as they are introduced to standing starts, riding as part of a group and tactical riding. All riders will have the opportunity to improve regardless of ability.
The session is lead by a qualified road and time trial coach with over 10 years of delivering cycling activities to children of all ages (from two to seventy two) including riders with disabilities and has extensive training in LTAD (long term athlete development).
Riders who have attended these sessions have progressed to acheive podiums at North West champs and Mountain Bike festivals.
Our Learn To Race session is designed to help you develop the tactics and decision-making skills you’ll need to excel on the track. We actively create a positive environment where you can try out scenarios you may experience when racing, and develop your confidence in selecting the best strategy for success. Don’t miss out on this chance to take your racing skills to the next level. Sign up now and get ready to race! 🚀🏁

Riley’s Garden centre is next door to Robinson’s main depot on Cooil Road.
What type of bike do I need?
We recommend using a mountain bike or road bike for these sessions.
Please ensure your bike is in good working order otherwise you may not be able to join in the session. Please note, Time Trial bars are not allowed.
What do I need to wear for this session?
Wearing a helmet during the session is compulsory. Gloves are advised for cycling. Please dress appropriately for the weather and riding conditions. Prepare for changable conditions!
For children at this age, we encourage you to allow your child to become more independent. They will need to bring their own water bottle with their preferred drink and a spare inner tube for their bike.
Is there anything you wouldn’t recommend?
No gels or sports nutrition bars are necessary for these sessions. We recommend avoiding wearing clip-less pedals for these sessions as they will be on and off the bike during the session.
